Algebra AEC is growing. We need another unicorn. Don’t read the description below if you don’t know what a unicorn is or do not consider yourself a unicorn. Run-of-the-mill engineers need not apply.
We’re looking to add a mechanical engineer to our team in Cleveland. This individual would work closely with Adam and Shariq, lead projects, work with clients, and task and manage a graduate mechanical engineer (to be hired 2019 Q3 or Q4). Below are some of the traits we’re looking for.
Must be a good human being.
Must accept the veracity of global warming and the fact that if we do not change how we design our buildings, drive our cars, and eat our food – we will go the way of the dinosaurs.
Must be able to disagree on fundamental concepts in a conversation in a respectful manner.
Must be able to think beyond your own scope of work, about things that affect others working on the project.
Must be motivated for something other than the weekend.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Must appreciate architecture, design, and culture.
Must be confident without being cocky, and still humble
You need to be kill'en it in at least 9 of the requirements below:
Should be able to mechanically engineer a building.
Should be comfortable in front of clients.
Should have great communication skills.
Should be able to work independently with some guidance.
Have a degree in science or engineering.
You get a gold star on our application review form for having a masters degree.
Would be great if you’re a FE or PE or can pass the test soon.
Should have some energy modeling experience.
Should have some experience in programming (any language).
Should have some experience in hydronic design, HVAC equipment selection, HVAC load calculations, etc.
Should have an understanding of acoustics and how to not annoy occupants in a building through unwanted sound and vibration transfer.
Should have experience in plumbing design, domestic waste vent and natural gas line sizing, etc.
Should have experience with designing major capital projects and following them through construction administration to occupancy.
Should know how to use Revit.
Should hate doing repetitive tasks manually.
Should have some experience in high performance computing with analysis for CFD / lighting / acoustics, etc.
